Our MISSION

The Sonia Sotomayor Elementary PTA works to make every child’s potential a reality by supporting their education, health, and well-being. We foster a strong, inclusive school community through family engagement, volunteerism, and meaningful programs that uplift all students.

By advocating for our children and building partnerships between families, educators, and the community, we aim to create an environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.

join the pta!

Anyone connected to a student at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary can be a member—parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, even students!

Annual membership is just $10 and helps support programs, events, and resources for our Snowy Owls.

Nominate an Owl-Star

Each month, we want to spotlight one of our amazing PTA members, volunteers, teachers, or families who help make Sonia Sotomayor Elementary such a special place.

Whether they’re planning events, donating snacks, offering great ideas, or lending a helping hand, our Owl-Stars remind us what makes this community so great.

October OWL-Star

Each month, we want to spotlight one of our amazing PTA members, volunteers, teachers, or families who help make Sonia Sotomayor Elementary such a special place.

This month's Owl-Star is Desiree Domingo!

I nominate Desiree Domingo for October Owl Star for her exceptional PTA leadership and unwavering advocacy for special education. Desiree builds bridges between families and staff, promotes inclusive practices (visual supports, sensory-friendly options), and consistently turns ideas into action that benefits all students. She is the heartbeat of a kinder, more accessible school community.

Desiree doesn’t seek the spotlight—she creates it for our kids. Recognizing her as the October Owl Star would celebrate the best of what our community strives to be: inclusive, collaborative, and deeply committed to student success.
